It's funny that this article on CNN emphasizes how the antropology professor at U. Kansas who had the audacity to refer to fundamentalists as "fundies" resigned from the chairmanship of his department, but glosses over the fact that he was beaten up by fundies.

From the bottom of the article notice:

On Monday, Mirecki was treated at a Lawrence hospital for head injuries after he said he was beaten by two men on a country road. He said the men referred to the creationism course. Law enforcement officials were investigating.

Hmmm, maybe he's onto something. But the real question I have is instead of titling the article "Anti-creationism prof quits department chair" why isn't it titled "Pro-evolution prof beaten up by creationists, forced to resign department chair."?
