Hope in South Africa, none in Texas
It's amazing how South Africa, once the most racist nation in the world, is rapidly becoming one of the most liberal and progressive. Consider, they have now legalized gay marriage(WP also has an an article). It's gotta give us hope for our country, although this might mean we'll need the entire world to boycott and embargo us before we actually change anything.

In other good news, it turns out that Tom Delay's redistricting plan is a violation of the voting rights act.

"The State of Texas has not met its burden in showing that the proposed congressional redistricting plan does not have a discriminatory effect," the memo concluded.

The memo also found that Republican lawmakers and state officials who helped craft the proposal were aware it posed a high risk of being ruled discriminatory compared with other options.

But the Texas legislature proceeded with the new map anyway because it would maximize the number of Republican federal lawmakers in the state, the memo said. The redistricting was approved in 2003, and Texas Republicans gained five seats in the U.S. House in the 2004 elections, solidifying GOP control of Congress.

However, despite the unanimous decision by the justice lawyers that the plan was discriminatory (aka racist) senior officials blocked any federal action.

...senior officials overruled them and approved the plan.

Now how many times do we have to read that same exact damn sentence before congress investigates partisan political actions in agencies that should be strictly neutral? Justice might as well only prosecute Democrats for wire fraud. How is this any different?

Finally, Bill O'Reilly has been spouting off a lot lately about liberals and their war on Christianity/Christmas blah blah blah. What a load of crap. Now the Chinese on the otherhand, have a real war on faith. They're beating up nuns over there.
