My head just exploded
This might be the most insane news article ever.
House conservatives criticized President Bush, accused the Senate of fouling the air, said prisoners rather than illegal farm workers should pick America's crops and denounced the use of Mexican flags by protesters Thursday in a vehement attack on legislation to liberalize U.S. immigration laws. Note, it's not even about taking jobs away from Americans anymore. Now it's about preventing slave prison laborers from being forced to do stoop labor. This is how stupid conservatives are. Can you even imagine the logistics of prisoners being used to replace the millions of migrant laborers who come in each year? The complete and total impracticality and stupidity of this suggestion? How retarded are these people? Then again, it was Dana Rohrabacher of California who is widely acknowledged as the stupidest man in congress. |

Are those really the only choices conservatives will consider? Second-class citizens or penal labor?
What if fruit growers (gasp!) paid decent wages to actual Americans? Would a pint of strawberries go to $10? That's how Burger King operates and right now the Jr. Whopper only costs $1.

I simply do not get why they hate migrant labor so much. These people are not taking away American jobs, there is no local competition for stoop labor. And, these jackasses even realize that, hence suggesting prison labor.
The stupidity is just mind-boggling. Is this just racism? Is it that simple? That they would rather make prisoners perform this labor than pay a Mexican?
