Jefferson should go screw himself.
If it wasn't for this jackass, we could have a nice uniform Republican ethics scandal. Instead, this total crook, who had 90,000 dollars in his freezer, continues to stay in office despite pretty obvious guilt.

We said it before, if you have $90,000 in cash (which the FBI gave to you, on camera, as part of a sting) in your freezer, you are a crook. Crooked crook of crookery.

Instead he's staying in office! Like being caught on tape accepting bribes and having nearly 100k in cash in the freezer is ok behavior for a public servant. Apparently when "his side" comes out it will vindicate him. Maybe the bitch set him up, but I doubt it.

Seriously, Jefferson, you are nothing but a source of shame. You're an embarrassment. Resign now. We don't need you in our party.

I agree that Jefferson should resign and go jump in a lake (Pontchartrain?), but there is a separate issue that's pretty interesting about this case.

Apparently there is a Constitutional quibble about the executive branch exercising a search warrant on a Congressional office. There was evidence of a crime (hence the search warrant), but now the FBI has access to all kinds of material that might be protected by Congressional privilege. Certain prosecutors and FBI agents not connected with the investigation are going at act as a "filter team" to sort the privileged material from the non-privileged material.

Even the Republicans in Congress are worried. Of course, it's possible that the Republicans are just making a big stink about this to make sure the news story doesn't die.

What about the other jackasses like Rep Alan Mollohan (D-WVa), Rep Maxine Waters (D-Ca), and ex-Senator Robert Torricelli (D-Saddam),? They have been working hard to carry on in the tradition of the Rep Wright, Rep Coelho, and the House banking scandal.

Be fair about this! Give credit where credit it due.

Oh, boy - are we now naming irrelevant politicians linked to long-ago scandals? Because the Republicans here are acting like true scoundrels in the mold of Senator Albert Fall (R - N.M.) and Representative Schuyler Colfax (R - Ind).

Dear Anon,

Actually, Mollohan, Waters and Torricelli are all current scandals, as is Sen. Reid.

Wow, nice link to that Reid article.
Three tickets to a boxing match vs Cunningham's bribery menu. Or tens of millions of dollars of military contracts being given to friends and playmates. Or the good old Tom Delay money-laundering. Or leaking the names of CIA operatives.

Hmm, boxing tickets. Nope. Doesn't quite do it for me. 90k in the freezer, now that's a sign of a serious corruption problem. MZM giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to congressmen in bribes? That's some corruption too. Boxing tickets? Are you fucking kidding? That doesn't even come close to one tenth of the cost of the plane trip that took Delay to Scotland to golf for 120k dollars. Boxing tickets!?!

Oh, and Solomon's hackery in attacking Reid is pretty well documented here

In both of the cases where Solomon has alledged misconduct or some kind of pay for play, Reid has voted against the interests of his putative influence peddlers. Not very good evidence.
