Am I the only one that wishes Michael Newdow would just give up already?
The good news is his latest case, against "In God we trust", has been tossed out of court. He's a one man wedge issue for the Republicans, and if he could just cram it, and go away, the whole left wing conspiracy against religion charge gets a lot weaker for the fundies. After all, there is no conspiracy, Newdow is the only person in the country who actually gives a shit about these silly minutiae.

No, Newdow is not the only person who cares. He's symptomatic of atheists who are sick and tired of being slandered and marginalized at every opportunity, with no consequences.
At least there's a debate going with one side arguing that gays may actually be people.
So, what are atheists to do? "Give Up" won't work here, unless we want to continue taking it up the ass forever.

Taking what up the ass?
We don't take anything up the ass unless we make a big deal out of a bunch of meaningless crap. Why care? Are you really saying you feel you're personally injured by carrying our money? That slogan is, for you, taking it up the ass? Sorry, that's some pretty weak oppression you've got going on there.
Get over it. It doesn't mean anything. Atheists should know that best of all.
The real problem is that atheists are so hated and distrusted, often ranked as or more unfavorably among Americans than pedophiles. And it's not people like Newdow that change people's minds about that. Quite the opposite.

I wish it didn't say those things on our money and I wish our children didn't even have to say the pledge altogether. I do however think that there are more important things we could be doing to combat the harmful effects of fundamentalism in America. For one, we could be putting most of our time and energy into supporting science in our schools. Bettering our educational system in general would do a lot of good.
