Take the PZ challenge
PZ is taking the "challenge Coulter's lies" route over at Pharyngula and has asked Coulter fans to take his Coulter Godless challenge. It's pretty simple. List one paragraph from her book dealing with evolution, science, etc., and defend it. He will reply.
No takers as yet. I doubt it's from lacking of right wing readership, I've seen his trolls, they're pretty bad. I challenge Coulter fans to a different task. Try to tell her writings from those of Mein Kampf using our quiz. Tell me your score. |

12 here. But then, I've studied both Coulter and Hitler in depth (under the heading "known thy enemy") and have actually read Mein Kampf. Hitler's writing style is more elaborate and archaic, and doesn't aim for the snippy soundbite as often as Coulter's.
Still, a good challenge, and serves its point of illustrating the ideological similarity.

12/14. Hitler is stylistically superior to Coulter.
I missed the "Hence it is the time..." where Hitler blames liberals for destruction in America. This just seemed too Coulter-ish.
Since when did Hitler give a flip about liberalism in America, as though he cared about our country???
It just seemed odd to me...

Daniel Morgan: True about Hitler being a better writer than COulter. Hitler was actually a fairly competent writer, although for obvious reasons no one wants to cop to it.

Wow - you liberals really must be afraid of some free thought and idea exchange if your comparing Ann to Hitler.
Must be nice to sit back and discredit anything you don't understand, like or happen to agree with.
See Conservatives may disagree with your liberal rants but we protect them under the Constitution - you liberals just attack anything you don't find to be PC enough for your flavor of the week culture.

What the hell is the deal with the last brave "anonymous" to visit here? Apparently it (since we don't know if anon. is a he or a she) can't see that the similarity between the two writers is what discredits Coulter -- not the fact that liberals happen to notice this undeniable similarity.
And who said that Coulter isn't free under the Constitution to write her stupid and hateful lies? It's the conservatives who call all dissent unpatriotic and would be all too happy to round people up and jail them for their sedition.
Now what is a little bit odd is that so many people on here rush to point out that Coulter is a worse writer than Hitler. I mean she's a bad human being and a bad writer, but I don't know if "you're a worse writer than Hitler" is a taunt that really helps us to score a lot of points. It's kind of like pointing out that so-and-so is worse at backgammon than Pol Pot.

I noticed a little confusion over the quiz system. The Hitler quotes were purposefully modified to make them refer to liberals instead of Jews.
The only point being made here is that her writing is incredibly hateful and dehumanizing. I'm not advocating mobilization of the armed forces to attack her, or censorship, just the realization that her language is over the top and nasty.
Now PZ's challenge is even better. He's challenged people to try to defend a single paragraph of her writing. Guess what? No takers, because there isn't anything to "understand" or "appreciate". She spits out raw hate and people eat it up.

Um, yeah, the liberals aren't the ones who want to jail people for speaking their minds about our President. That particular "honor" goes to the conservatives. Also, the liberals aren't the ones who keep trying to write discrimination into the Constitution--again, that would be the conservatives. ~_- So who's protecting freedom again? My vote goes with the liberals....

Alas, I found an error: "Liberals always get a lot of credit for suffering, while never actually being made to suffer" is indeed a Coulter, not Hitler quote. http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/anncoulter/2001/01/25/167176.html

Shit!
Well, I probably transcribed something wrong when I went from a paper quiz to our newer fancier php quiz. I'll go into the system and try to set it right tonight. I'm a pretty pathetic coder but I should be able to handle that without my tech expert. You're definitely right though, that's a Coulter for sure (it also makes me wonder about the 14/14 people). Maybe I should leave it in as a sneaky test for honesty?

To Anonymous who found #13 was incorrectly attributed to Hitler:
I checked the quiz code and took it again myself, when I did it it was correctly attributed to Coulter, so I don't know what the problem is.
Maybe just a minor php hiccup? Sometimes if you score it one way and don't reload the page the quiz will still remember an old answer. Anyway, thanks for the fact-checking, it's always gratifying when people can repeat your results.

Speech should never land someone in jail short of the whole fire in a theater scenario. That's not the point of our little quiz. The point is that her writing is just hate. She has no ideas, and what she espouses is a mixture of bigotry and lies.
That is also the point of PZ Myers post which is linked to in my original post. He asked coulter fans to try and stand by a single paragraph she writes (on biology in this case), defend it, justify it, explain why it's true. He has had no takers, but lots of fundamentalists trolls who really seem to like the hate she spits out.
That is all, we are arguing there is no real content to what Coulter says. She has found, not surprisingly, there is a big market for telling people what they want to hear, no matter what the truth, and that their political opponents aren't just wrong, but evil.
