No surprise here
When you contract people to lie to women seeking counseling for pregnancy, it turns out, they lie to women.

I'm shocked, shocked to find gambing is going on in here!

This reminds me of some reporting that the student paper did last winter/spring. They sent an undergrad female undercover to the various pregnancy centers around town. She claimed that she had missed a period, and was gauging their response.

The 'pregnancy center' (funded by antiabortion groups) gave her a pregnancy test, handed her a bunch of literature, and when the test came up negative, sent her home.

The Planned Parenthood chapter gave her the test. When it came up negative, they made her an appointment with a physician to try and determine if there was an organic reason (i.e. disease) that caused her to miss a period.

Her point: which one cares more about women, and which one with the clump of cells inside her?

Damn good point.

Planned Parenthood is therefore serving as an entry point for actual healthcare, while the pregnancy center is just a political operation triying to deflect women from birth control and abortions. Why should we be suprised when they lie, are sloppy, etc? We had no reason to think these are actual medical providers, why are we shocked when Waxman or whoever finds out they are frauds?

Seems like we're going in circles.

Here's a link to the article:

Local reproductive counseling services clash on approaches to unplanned pregnancy

My personal favorite: the pregnancy center pamphlet that "claims that using oral contraceptives can cause a number of side effects including ... greater susceptibility to the AIDS virus"

Holy crap, some actual investigative journalism in the Cav Daily? My hat is off to that plucky young reporter; great article.

I just hope she isn't counting on a career in the mainstream media; that sort of attitude just won't do at all! She'd have to give equal weight to the idea that contraceptives make one more susceptible to AIDS.

Specifically, the scientific theory that rubbers are actually spun from the silk of LOLTH, THE SPIDER-QUEEN OF THE ABYSS. Thus whenever HIV passes through the gaping holes in the condoms, it is transmuted into SUPER-AIDS.

Present all sides!
