In a way, I think
these quotes from Ken Lay's funeral are a sign of end times. Maybe it's just reading the BS from supply-siders, but I read crap like this and I want to start a class war.
Reverend Dr. William Lawson:
"Ken Lay was neither black nor poor, but I'm angry because Ken Lay was a victim of a lynching."
"The folks who don't like him have had their say. I'd like to have mine ... (Like Jesus Christ) he was crucified by a government that mistreated him."
Yeah, Ken Lay was
lynched by a jury of his peers in a court of law. According to this total and complete jackass, punishing a rich man for stealing millions of dollars makes him a victim of a hate crime. The crime wasn't rolling blackouts in California, the loss of thousands of workers pensions, the defrauding of investors, energy traders saying "burn baby burn" or joking about stealing grandma's pension, no, the crime was apparently punishing a rich man for stealing.
I'm just fighting back the tears.

Once I got over the outrage at hearing this, I had to think: it's actually adorable! The righties see the public outpour of sympathy and support for genuine progressives (say, Coretta King's funeral), and decide that with the plummeting popularity of moronic GOP policies (what, you mean tax cuts for the rich don't resonate with the average guy?), they want a piece of that pie.
See, Kenny-Boy, just like DeLay (also having been compared to Jesu Christo) and all those other poor, persecuted rich influential white men, are being held down by THE MAN. Nevermind that fantastically rich guys in positions of massive power and influence ARE The Man... Once again it's the GOP trying to co-opt aspects of leftism while failing to understand the real reasons Americans really support progressive, left-wing causes.
Stick to slander and personal-destruction politics, Republicans, that's where random nonsensical comparisons really work. Or don't; I want to see you fail as much as anyone.
All this is doing is infuriating people with respect for MLK or interest in actually following Jesus' teachings. Give Up, baby!
