I'm sorry, but when sees this headline in the Washington Post, one wonders about the relevancy and appeal of the Catholic Church:
Woman Leads Catholic Service Despite Risk
How, in 2006, can this still be an event worth debating, or celebrating? Seems like barring women from leading a religious service is a great way to relegate your belief system to only the most backwards countries.
1 Comments:
At least they believe, tenuously, in evolution.
I don't know, any religious group makes itself hard to defend given enough time. I was hoping the child sex scandals were finally going to lead to more sexual equality or even an end to the vow of chastity for priests, but it looks like it's going to take another few decades of dwindling numbers of straight men willing to be celibate for life and infiltration by pedophiles and maybe they'll have to consider it again.
