Coming events in Give Up Land
So, we have some interesting activities that people should join us for.

One, Dawkins joins us here at UVA November 3rd and 4th and we should get together to see his talk. Maybe bitch at him, maybe not, I haven't decided if I like this new atheism idea he has, it sounds like work.

An Inconvient Truth will be playing Thursday Nov 2nd 6:00pm at Newcomb hall.

And next Tuesday I say we spend the night in the bar watching election returns and drinking in celebration or misery.

What say you Give Uppers?

Oh, and after the elections I'll share with you my dream.

I'll probably drink and try studiously to avoid any poll results until I see the papers the next morning. Best not to get one's hopes up.

Have fun with Dawkins, I'm envious. Though I did get to see James Randi at UVA's "Science Day" some years back. That was fun, albeit tailored more for kids.

Looking farther out, are you going to be at the ASCB meeting in December? I've never been to San Diego; it's no San Fran, but should be fun. Especially as it's probably the last one I'll ever attend. I intend it to be my "burning bridges" event!

(I searched through the abstracts this year; sadly, no Jonathan Wells so far, but there's always hope for Late Abstracts.)

I renew my call for a bible burning to coincide w/ Dawkins' appearance.

No need to burn them. Just don't swallow them whole. Dawkins' ideas about atheists and how we should be in the world do sound like it will take some effort though. . . and I'm at the "just happy the church folks have stopped asking my kids to Sunday school" stage. . . now there's more I'm supposed to do? :)
